I started drawing a lot of portraits from 1990, all black and white. I bought some Chinese calligraphy brushes then made them special drawing brushes myself. Get some charcoal powder, eraser and paper, I then could throw several hours sitting there having fun.
The portraits were mostly of movie stars or singers. The reason was simple: people can recognize them. Later some friends and classmates wanted them as gifts. A few were even sent to school or organization drawing contests and won a couple prizes. The last time I drew was for a friend in 2001. Never again since. June 2007 when I visited home, I found those old drawings. Charcoal color still stays, but paper all turned yellow. Looked through each of them, lots of stories came back to me. So I brought them with me to the US, and finally had their photos taken or scanned. Don't know if I'd ever draw by hand again. I put some of them here now so I can look at them more easily and re-visit some old memories.
