Who I Am

I am a interactive/interface designer, web designer/developer,and graphic designer located in Nebraska. I consider myself a combination of designer and programmer. My goal is to move your ideas forward with my design. I was born in China, now a permanent resident in Nebraska and have been in the United States since 2002.

What I Do

Who I Worked With

I have been employed by University of Nebraska at Omaha, Gallup Organization and CityMatCH (public health non-profit) at University of Nebraska Medical Center in the past, and I took freelance projects at times since 2005, when the time permits and the project fits. My clients include start-ups, online-retailers, communication business, government, and software companies. You may check out my portfolio for more about these clients and projects.

Where My Knowledge Comes From

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from University of Nebraska at Omaha, Computer Science & Technology College. My previous associate degree in Accounting (and experiences from working in bank) gives me a little bit business background, as well as allowed me to transfer necessary credits over so that I was able to graduate in UNO in only two and half years. Majoring in MIS opened a door for me in programming, database, human-computer interaction, software development life cycle and project management. But I must say, the most valuable knowledge came from the workshops and seminars organized by Dr. Gerald Wagner during my time at VIA Design (later OneIP), a student design lab in which I was a founding member. Those workshops and seminars covered topics such as usability, data visualization, art of interaction and visual story telling, allowed me to listen to, learn from, even work with the best in the field such as Marshall Monroe, Christopher Stapleton, Dan Boyarski, Michelangelo Capraro, Duncan McAlester, Mike Hill, and so on.

My skills on design and software tools are almost all self-taught. I did however, sit in the Photoshop class (by College of Fine Arts in UNO) for a semester, not to learn how to use, but how to teach, as I was teaching Photoshop workshops to potential VIA Design new members at the time. Today, I continue to learn about new technology and tools that can streamline design process and improve the results.
