A Flash application for Gallup organization to better showcase their products. As a System Application Developer, I mainly worked on 2 projects. The other one was Even Calendar. This Labs Porfolio was the last project I worked on as a student, and the most fun one. All of us were interns from PKI, UNO and we were divided into two groups to design/develop this prototype same time. At the end we presented to Gallup executives and let they decide which one they would choose to continue working on. And this was the winning project.
My team had three people: Mark Nguyen, Joyeon Lee and myself. Mark is one of the best programmers that I ever worked with. I didn't have to worry about implementation while doing interaction and interface design. Our mentor, Christopher Purdy, the graphic specialist in Gallup, never turned down our ideas but only provide guidance. The project management was seamless - anything we requested would be in place the next day or two. Add to that, I had a strong confidence that we'd win. :) Therefore even we had the pressure to understand product, come up with design and code it, and create a short Flash movie for one of the products, and finally prepare for the presentation in a short 6-week period (working half time while going to school full time with graduation at about the same time as the presentation), we still had fun. I remember I was working on this project and same time preparing for my graduation. We even went to office on Thanksgiving Day. There were only 2 cars in the parking lot: the guard's and ours. :) Definitely some experience to remember.
The features/functions of this application include:
- One-screen interface
- User can drag products (the plaques on the wall) down to the shelf if they don't need to present them and re-arrange the products on the wall, and reset to default layout by a simple double-click.
- Double click on any product will load the presentation movie. User can choose to turn on or off sound and subtitle. They can also directly draw on the screen.
- If the movie is interactive, the "interactive points" will show on time bar, and user can take movie to that point directly and interact with it
